FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIOONS
What % of My Donation makes to to the cause?
Bush Global Village Foundation has an administration rate of less than 10%. Our founders fully support these causes voluntarily - the only salaries paid are for services in Tanzania. Examples are 2 teachers, soon a cook, and soon a security guard for the food and supplies.
What are some examples of admin costs?
Admin costs include various items such as money transfer fees, internet domain fees, communication costs, and various fees for being a 501(c)3. The founders have graciously donated all start up costs and audit costs. Many items - such as this website development - are done purely voluntarily by Beth Bush.
Q: Can I deduct this donation on my Tax return?
YES! Bush Global Village Foundation is a 501(c)3 Corporation. This means we are recognized as a non-profit in the USA. If you need any additional paperwork, please contact us.
Q: I am a CANADIAN donor - can I deduct my donation?
Bush Global Village Foundation is unfortunately NOT a registered organization with the CRA holding a charitable status. However, there are some cross boarder tax treaties that allow for a deduction if you have an income source in the USA. Careful consideration is advised. Please contact us if this remains a concern for you.
Q: Why are we helping educate a tribe that has sustained themselves for over 2,000 years?
Maasai population is increasing. Global warming and climate changes are effecting them as they depend so much on the weather and migrations of wild animals. Development around them has brought diseases for both humans and their livestock which they solely rely on for food. And unfortunately the conversion of their rangeland into parkland has limited the ability to feed their livestock. We are completely in support of conservation for wild animals as they need safe and protected parklands more than ever. Our vision is to help find new way that the Maasai can sustain themselves by opening up new opportunities through education given the current modern global village that we all live in. It is a delicate balance!
Q: What impact will education have on their Culture?
This is a complicated situation. There are aspects of the culture that in our opinion are better off to change. It is through education that we can affect these changes. Examples are killing lions to become a warrior, female circumcision, and reliance only on traditional medicine.
Bush Global Village Foundation relies on the sovereignty of the community elders to direct what changes they want to make and we help fund those that share in our core values. In addition, we plan to apply for grant money in the future that will help us archive and document many of their traditions.
